Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, acupuncture is incredibly safe when done by a licensed practitioner. We use only sterile very thin needles that are only used once. After the one time an acupuncture needle is used, they are disposed of as medical waste. There are strict rules and guidelines that maintain cleanliness and safety that we follow to maintain a high level of care for our patients.

Most of our patients fall asleep during the treatment and are actually surprised at how little they feel the needles.  A slight sensation or “tingling” is considered normal and actually shows that the treatment is working.  We have never had a patient refuse treatment because of pain.

On your first treatment, we’ll go through your health history and spend some time talking about your conditions and how they are affecting you. Then we will do some diagnostic testing to make sure we have a correct Chinese medical diagnosis.  These include Chinese pulse (21 different positions, 80 different pulse types and 9 depths), tongue diagnosis (different areas of the tongue correspond to different organ systems) and a Japanese hara testing that confirms what we’ve seen.  Then we’ll do an acupuncture treatment and let you rest for 30 minutes.  The entire treatment will take about 2 hours. Follow up treatments will usually take an hour or so.

I have seen firsthand the devastation that ill health can cause and I have seen firsthand how powerful acupuncture treatments can be in restoring health.  I believe that we offer the best option for the elimination of pain and many different types of illness.  I am committed to helping my patients remove the core reason for their ill health and through many years of research, study and dedication, I feel confident in my abilities to help you.

There is a lot of ongoing research that proves that acupuncture works.  But the most important fact is that millions of people worldwide have felt a positive result with their health through acupuncture. The U.S. military is using acupuncture in both combat and non-combat situations and hospitals and cancer centers are integrating acupuncture into their treatments. I personally have received many M.D. referrals for a variety of complaints in my practice. It is my belief that something that has survived for over 3000 years has proved that acupuncture is a viable option for healthcare.

The cost of the initial treatment is $160.00.  This includes going over your health history, a pulse diagnosis, a tongue diagnosis and a Japanese Hara diagnosis.  After we have arrived at a diagnosis of your condition you will be given an acupuncture treatment. Follow up treatments are $85.00.

The initial treatment will take approximately 2 hours.  Follow up treatments will take around an hour.  Loose fitting clothes and turning off your phones before your appointment will ensure a timely treatment.

Result timing varies greatly from patient to patient.  Some will see great improvement in 4 – 6 treatments while others will take longer. The longer you’ve had the condition seems to be a factor in how quickly you respond.  Remember, acupuncture is healing the body at the root of the problem and you’ll need to be patient as the body heals.

Most people that are suffering from illness or pain are very motivated to do everything possible to recover. They’re committed to getting better and their wellbeing is a top priority. They’re willing to follow our recommendations and are committed to making the changes that are necessary to help their bodies heal.  We will expect you to follow our office policies, do what we ask you to do and enjoy the healing process.
